SHERWOOD FC HOODS SENIOR DEVELOPMENT TEAM – INITIAL INFORMATION

SHERWOOD FC HOODS SENIOR DEVELOPMENT TEAM – INITIAL INFORMATION

Following leaving the Notts Youth League at Under-18 last year, several of the players expressed an interest in forming a Sherwood FC senior/development team. Although we have 18 teams at various ages from U7 to U16, Sherwood have not had a senior mens team (we do have two senior women’s team) for years, so the club welcomed the idea.

Originally, we were going to form an U23 team, but the U23 league fell through, so we have decided, for the 26/27 season, to join the open-age Eurosoccer Long Eaton League. Several other ex-U18 teams will be joining at the same time.

If you are interested in joining the team, here are a few things you need to know. Note: Make sure you read the important information on the Temporary Venue below.

Staff

Dave Wilson – Head Coach
Dan Faulconbridge – Assistant/SFC Football Development Coach
Rachel Faulconbridge – Manager/Admin

Matches (Also see TEMPORARY VENUE below)

We will be playing matches late Sunday mornings/early Sunday afternoons, from the end of August (exact start date to be confirmed).

Most of the teams in the league are, unsurprisingly, from the Long Eaton area. In theory, you have to be within 10 miles of Long Eaton; in practice, some of the teams are from further afield. Many of them are from Derby, generally the Notts side of Derby.

Because we are a new team, we will be entered into the bottom division. In 25/26, there were four divisions in the league.

Our home ground (shared with several other clubs) is The Forest Sports Zone (FSZ), NG7 6LD, where the surface is 3G. We will also play some matches on the grass at Melbourne Park, NG8 5HJ. See the venue guide page for more information.

Training (Also see TEMPORARY VENUE below)

The team will train for 1 hour once a week at The Forest Sports Zone, on 3G. Day and time TBC, but probably Wednesday 8 – 9pm.

Friendlies

We have two pre-season friendlies arranged: away at Ollerton on Sunday 19th July, 10am KO, and away at NG City on 2 August. Time TBC.

Registration

Players will need to be registered by 24th July*. Players will also need to register with TeamFeePay (see Subs below).

*We do have the option to sign players later in the season, if required.

Subs

The cost of being in the team is £29 per month. This includes sign-on/registration fees and insurance. Players who can’t commit to training and playing every week can join the team at a reduced/part-time rate of £16.50.

Payment will be taken direct debit via TeamFeepay. We will provide more information on this.

TEMPORARY VENUE

The Forest Sports Zone is undergoing a major redevelopment, which is expected to be completed by October 2026. Until the FSZ is ready, the team will train at Haydn Road Sports Ground (see location info below) on Tuesday evenings, 7pm – 8.30pm, and play matches at Melbourne Park.
